A landslide dam burst on the Budhi Gandaki before dawn on 11 October 2026 and flooded the lower Manaslu trail from Philim down to Soti. Houses, hotels and at least four bridges are gone. No deaths have been confirmed, but at least four people are missing. The Manaslu Conservation Area Project says 211 foreign tourists are stuck by the flood and are being rescued and evacuated. If you are booked on the Manaslu Circuit or Tsum Valley, wait for our confirmation before you start.

Thorong La is being crossed again. ACAP reported seven trekkers over the pass on 3 October, and its Manang checkpoint is letting trekkers climb to High Camp. ACAP has not formally lifted its 30 September closure, and the road above Chame is still damaged, so the walk starts at Chame.
