A landslide dam burst on the Budhi Gandaki before dawn on 11 October 2026 and flooded the lower Manaslu trail from Philim down to Soti. Houses, hotels and at least four bridges are gone. No human casualties have been reported. If you are booked on the Manaslu Circuit or Tsum Valley, wait for our confirmation before you start.

Thorong La is being crossed again. ACAP reported seven trekkers over the pass on 3 October, and its Manang checkpoint is letting trekkers climb to High Camp. ACAP has not formally lifted its 30 September closure, and the road above Chame is still damaged, so the walk starts at Chame.

The 26 August flood destroyed one corridor, not the Nepal Himalaya. Everest, Annapurna, Manaslu, Kanchenjunga and Makalu came through it, though late-September storms shut Thorong La on the Annapurna Circuit for a week. Langtang's trail is intact but the road to Syabrubesi is gone, and the Kailash overland route through Kerung is closed for the season. Route-by-route status, each row dated and attributed.
