We went in April before the summer crowds and it was cold in the mornings but the light was superb. Chele to Syangboche is a big day with a lot of up and down. The teahouses in Upper Mustang have improved a lot and were more comfortable than I expected. Lo Manthang deserves two nights, not one, so ask for the longer itinerary if you can.

The journey from Kathmandu to Lo Manthang felt like we were stepping in a different world. The roads were long and sometimes rough, but every turn brought something beautiful. Once we started climbing higher, the views got bigger and quieter. It was wild to witness such transition! Lo Manthang was full of stories. The old buildings, kind locals and the simple way of life made me and my family feel like the time had slowed down. My kids were very happy experiencing that.
