On the first day of the trek, you will hike from Syapru Besi to Gatlang. The trail includes an ascent of 885 m and a descent of 107m, taking around 6 hours to complete. You will begin with a gentle ascent, and the terrain gradually becomes rocky as you reach Ronga Bhanjyang. You will make a steep climb through forests of conifers. You can witness Ganesh Himal from at far distance. From here, you will start descending to the Goljung Valley. After descending for around an hour, you will begin your ascent to Gatlang.
The trail to Gatlang is mostly shaded, passing through thick forests while offering views of distant peaks. Before the end of the day, you will reach Gatlang, a traditional Tamang village known for its beautiful terraced fields and ancient monasteries. You will witness traditional stone houses, monasteries, and chortens in the village. You will stay overnight at a teahouse or lodge in Gatlang.

On the third day, after breakfast at Gatlang, your trek begins early in the morning towards Tatopani. Today, you will trek 13.2 km, which is around a 6-hour walk, to reach Tatopani. You will start with a steep descent through the forests. En route, you will pass by terrace farms and cross a long suspension bridge over the Chilime River. You will also trek past mani walls and chortens to reach the Chilime village. At the village, you can see a beautiful lake created by the Chilime Hydropower Dam. From here, you will start your steep ascent into the pine forest.
As you move forward, you will also ascend steep stone steps. Right before you arrive at the Gonggang village, you will cross a suspension bridge. You can witness Ganesh Himal and the picturesque scenery of the valley below from the village. The trail continues to ascend. It takes you past traditional Tamang villages and terrace farms to Tatopani. The name Tatopani translates into “hot water.” The village is famous for its natural hot springs. You will spend the night here, so you can dip in the hot water and relieve your tired muscles.

After breakfast at Tatopani, you will trek towards Thuman via Nagthali Ghyang. It is the highest point of the trek at 3,165 m, so the trek today is more exciting. The trail ascends gently with a steepness of 558 m through rhododendron and pine forests. You will trek uphill until you reach the Brimdang village at 2,840 meters. The trail continues to ascend as you make your way up to the Nagthali Ghyang.
Upon reaching Nagthali Ghyang, breathtaking views of the Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, and other distant Tibetan peaks lie wide open before your eyes. In old times, monks used to meditate here, and there is a small monastery here. After the beautiful view from Nagthali Ghyang, you’ll descend 827 m towards Thuman. You will descend through a forest trail and open hillsides to get there. Thuman is a large Tamang village rich in Buddhist culture. You can see traditional houses and beautiful chortens here. You will rest at a teahouse or lodge here overnight.

You will enjoy a hearty breakfast at Thuman while enjoying the view in the morning before resuming your journey. Today, you will trek to the tranquil Tamang village of Briddhim. You will begin with a steep descent through lush forests to the Bhote Koshi River. Similarly, you will pass by small Tamang settlements, terraced fields, monasteries, and chortens. You will also cross a suspension bridge before reaching Timure village. Timure is a river valley that lies close to the old trade route to Tibet. The trail begins to ascend steeply from here.
You will pass through dense forests and bamboo groves along the way. The 15 km trek from Thuman to Briddhim takes about 6 hours. Today is the most culturally enriching day of the journey, and you will explore the Tamang and Sherpa cultures closely. Local Tamang community people will welcome you at Briddhim. There are several monasteries, chortens, and mani walls all over the village. Similarly, you can enjoy the gorgeous mountain views of the Langtang range. You will rest overnight here.
