Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Package and Cost 2027

We run five Kailash Mansarovar Yatra packages for the 2027 season, 10 to 14 days long, from USD 1,870 to USD 3,810 per person. The 14-day overland yatra from Kathmandu costs USD 2,770 to USD 3,250 (₹2.65 to 3.10 lakh) per person, and group size moves the price more than anything else. Four of the five start and end in Kathmandu; one begins in Lhasa.

Kailash Yatra, Mount Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, Kailash Manasarovar Yatra and the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra tour all name the same pilgrimage: the three-day Kailash parikrama around Mount Kailash (6,638 m) and puja at Lake Mansarovar (about 4,590 m) in western Tibet. Which Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Packages Run in 2027?

Five packages run in 2027: three overland yatras from Kathmandu, one helicopter yatra via Simikot and Hilsa, and one tour from Lhasa. Every one crosses Dolma La at 5,630 m on the kora and runs between May and September.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

This is our 14-day yatra by road: Kathmandu, Gyirong, Saga, Lake Mansarovar, Darchen, the kora and back, with 3 or 4 star hotels, 2 nights in a tented camp or monastery guest house, and vegetarian meals throughout. Groups run 5 to 20 pilgrims, with Hindi-speaking support.

10 days Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Yatra

The shorter yatra skips the sightseeing days in the capital and leaves for the Nepal-Tibet border on day 1 in a shared vehicle. It keeps a rest day at Kyirong (2,700 m), and 47 km of the kora is on foot.

Kailash Charan Sparsh Tour

This tour adds Charan Sparsh to the kora: a 7 km out and back walk from Dirapuk (also spelt Diraphuk) so each devotee can touch the base of the north face. It runs 10 days, with guest houses and a tented camp.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter

It flies from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and Simikot, takes the helicopter to Hilsa and drives 263 km inside Tibet, from Taklakot (Purang) and back. This Kailash Mansarovar package by helicopter runs 11 days, from USD 3,400 (about ₹3.25 lakh) per person in a group of 11 or more.

Lhasa Everest Kailash Mansarovar Kathmandu Tour

This is the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Lhasa: Shigatse and Everest Base Camp (Tibet side), then Saga, Mansarovar Lake and the kora, 2,375 km by road with breakfast included. Its listed route returns to Kathmandu through Gyirong, so check the exit with us before you book.

How Much Does the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Cost in 2027?

The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra costs USD 1,870 to USD 3,810 per person with us, and USD 2,770 to USD 3,250 (₹2.65 to 3.10 lakh) on the 14-day yatra. Vehicles, permits and crew are fixed costs split across the group, so every extra pilgrim lowers the price for the rest.

A couple on the 10-day yatra pays USD 2,299 each; in a group of 17 the same seat costs USD 1,870. A private departure on your own travel date costs a little more than the fixed-date group price.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Package Cost by Route

The route sets the cost, because every route ends in the same three-day kora from Darchen. Among our routes, overland from Nepal costs least and the helicopter costs most; the government routes via Lipulekh and Nathu La suit Indian citizens who win the draw.

The government figures are the Ministry of External Affairs estimates for 2026 on kmy.gov.in. Indian agencies also sell a Kailash yatra from Lucknow by helicopter, and aerial darshan flights from Lucknow; those flights make no landing and no kora, so they are not a yatra.

Do not confuse this with the Adi Kailash yatra. Adi Kailash (5,945 m) stands in Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand, and needs no Chinese visa, no Tibet permit and no border crossing, so it costs far less.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter or Overland: Which Suits You?

Overland suits most first-time pilgrims, because it costs less and gives your body days to adjust to high altitudes; the helicopter suits pilgrims who cannot sit through long road days.

No helicopter lands at Mount Kailash or Lake Mansarovar; Chinese rules bar flights there. Charter costs change often, so we confirm the helicopter price at booking.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Itinerary From Nepal, Day by Day

The 14-day itinerary spends two days in Kathmandu, five reaching Darchen, one at Lake Mansarovar, three on the kora and two driving back, climbing from 1,400 m to 5,630 m on Dolma La.

In Kathmandu we collect passports, file the Chinese group visa and Tibet permits and run a medical check. You stay overnight in Darchen on days 7 and 8, every bus carries an oxygen cylinder, and we drive the first 5 km of the kora, Darchen to Tarboche.

Route status for 2027: on 26 August 2026 a glacial lake outburst destroyed Gyirong Port and the Rasuwagadhi customs complex, the crossing every Kathmandu overland yatra uses. What Does the Kailash Mansarovar Tour Package Include?

The 14-day package includes transport, rooms, all meals, the guide and the Tibet visa and permit fees:

• Kathmandu to the border and back by non-AC vehicle, a coach in Tibet, and a support truck if needed
• 13 nights: 11 in hotels and lodges, 2 in a tented camp or monastery guest house, sharing
• 13 breakfasts, 12 lunches and 13 dinners, vegetarian throughout
• An English-speaking guide, cooks and helpers, and a duffel bag and down jacket on loan
• The Tibet Travel Permit, the group visa and entrance fees
• An oxygen cylinder in each bus, a medical kit and a Kathmandu city tour

Not included: international flights, the Nepal visa on arrival, extra Kathmandu nights, a pony on the kora (USD 100 to 150 a day, about USD 300 to 450 for three days), a porter or yak (USD 50 a day), the visa cancellation charge if you return early, tips, and rescue or evacuation. Travel insurance that covers high-altitude evacuation is required. On the 10-day, Charan Sparsh and Lhasa packages the Chinese group visa fee is also extra.

Government Yatra or a Private Yatra From Nepal: What Differs?

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) gave 1,000 places by lottery in 2026; a private yatra from Nepal is open to anyone who books. The same year China set a quota of 24,000 Indian pilgrims travelling privately through Nepal.

• Who can go: MEA takes Indian citizens aged 18 to 70; OCI card holders are not eligible. A private yatra takes every nationality, NRIs and OCI holders included.
• Time off: 23 to 25 days on MEA routes, counting 4 days in New Delhi, against 10 to 14 days from Kathmandu.
• Refunds: MEA payments are not refundable at any stage.

What Permits Does the Yatra Need for Entering Tibet?

You need a passport, a Chinese visa and the Tibet permits, and we file them all:

• A passport valid six months beyond your return, with two blank pages
• The Chinese group visa, filed for the whole group
• The Tibet Travel Permit, the Alien's Travel Permit, and the Border Defence and Military permits for Ngari
• A Nepal restricted area permit for Simikot and Hilsa on the helicopter route
• A medical fitness certificate

How Hard Is the Kailash Parikrama Trek Over Dolma La Pass?

The parikrama is a trek made hard by altitude, not terrain: about 42 km on foot over three days, with the longest day, 22 km, crossing Dolma La pass at 5,630 m. Start training 2 months before, and expect days of driving above 4,500 m first. Ponies and porters are for hire at Yam Dwar; book them on day 1 of the kora.

When Does the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Run?

The yatra runs from May to September. Saga Dawa falls on 18 June 2027, and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu advises against travel near full moon days because of overbooking and pilgrims stranded at Simikot and Hilsa. 2027 is a Fire Sheep Year, not a Horse Year, and many pilgrims choose it because it is quieter.

Is There an Age Limit for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra?

Yes: pilgrims must be 18 to 70 years old and carry a medical certificate showing they are fit for high altitude. Government routes apply the same rule, counted on 1 January. Pilgrims with chronic heart, lung or blood pressure conditions should not take part.

How to Save on the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra Cost

Choose overland, join a big group and walk the kora yourself:

1. Take the 10-day yatra. USD 1,870 in a group of 17 to 30 is our lowest price.
2. Book your seat on a fixed-date group. On the 14-day yatra, a group of 17 pays USD 480 less each than a group of 5.
3. Walk without a pony. That saves USD 300 to 450.
4. Claim a state grant. Uttar Pradesh pays Rs 1,00,000 to residents who complete the yatra through a private agency; apply online within 90 days.
5. Use the kit we lend. The duffel bag and down jacket are included.

Independent travel into Tibet is not allowed, so compare two or three registered tour operators on the same package, then send your dates and group size through Make Inquiry.
