Kailash Yatra in Horse Year, 2026

The Kailash Yatra in Horse Year, 2026, is considered one of the most auspicious spiritual journeys in the world. This is because 2026 marks the Tibetan Year of the Horse, an event that occurs only once every 12 years. Pilgrims undertaking the 52KM circumbulation, or Kora, of Mount Kailash during this period are believed to gain spiritual merit equivalent to performing 12 or 13 Koras in a regular year.

The Fire Horse Year in 2026 adds even greater significance. This cosmic alignment happens only once every 60 years and is believed to bring passion, enthusiasm, and powerful energies. Across various traditions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon, the year is thought to purify the spiritual energy of both Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar.

Another highlight of the 2026 pilgrimage is the coincidence with the Saga Dawa festival on May 31, 2026, which celebrates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Buddha Shakyamuni. This convergence of the Horse Year with the festival has earned the nickname the “Mahakhumbh of Kailash”.People from all over the world gather to partake in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Every Full Moon Day in the 2026 Calendar for Kailash Kora

Every full moon day in 2026 offers a special opportunity for pilgrims going for the Mount Kailash kora. The peak pilgrimage season for Mount Kailash runs from April to September, when weather conditions are favorable for high-altitude travel.

Notable full moon days include April 2 (Pink Moon), May 1 (Flower Moon / Vaishakh Purnima), May 31 (Blue Moon / Jestha Purnima), which coincides with the Saga Dawa Festival, June 30 (Strawberry Moon / Jestha Purnima), July 29 (Buck Moon / Guru Purnima), August 28 (Sturgeon Moon / Sharana Purnima), and September 26 (Harvest Moon / Bhadrapada Purnima).

We have organized the journey according to these Mount Kailash Fixed Departure Dates, so you can choose your preferred date and fixed time for the pilgrimage.
