Upper Mustang is a restricted area behind the Annapurnas, and the permit figure almost every page still quotes is out of date. The USD 500 for ten days was scrapped on 19 November 2025 and replaced with USD 50 per person per day, with no minimum. To get a SIM card in Nepal, choose a provider (Ncell, NTC or Smart Cell), take your passport, a copy of your visa page and one passport-sized photo to an authorized SIM shop or official counter, fill out the registration form, and the SIM is activated within minutes. The SIM itself costs roughly NPR 90 to 200, and a foreign visitor may hold two Nepali SIM cards at a time.
